ഇനി അവര് തിരിഞ്ഞുകളയുകയാണെങ്കില് (നബിയേ,) നിന്നെ നാം അവരുടെ മേല് കാവല്ക്കാരനായി അയച്ചിട്ടില്ല. നിന്റെ മേല് പ്രബോധന ബാധ്യത മാത്രമേയുള്ളു. തീര്ച്ചയായും നാം മനുഷ്യന് നമ്മുടെ പക്കല് നിന്നുള്ള ഒരു അനുഗ്രഹം ആസ്വദിപ്പിച്ചാല് അതിന്റെ പേരില് അവന് ആഹ്ലാദം കൊള്ളുന്നു. അവരുടെ കൈകള് മുമ്പ് ചെയ്തു വെച്ചതിന്റെ ഫലമായി അവര്ക്ക് വല്ല തിന്മയും ബാധിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കിലോ അപ്പോഴതാ മനുഷ്യന് നന്ദികെട്ടവന് തന്നെയാകുന്നു.(48)
(48) فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُوا فَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا ۖ إِنْ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ ۗ وَإِنَّا إِذَا أَذَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ مِنَّا رَحْمَةً فَرِحَ بِهَا ۖ وَإِنْ تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ فَإِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ كَفُورٌ
But if they turn away (O Muhammad SAW from the Islamic Monotheism, which you have brought to them). We have not sent you (O Muhammad SAW) as a Hafiz (protector) over them (i.e. to take care of their deeds and to recompense them). Your duty is to convey (the Message). And verily, when We cause man to taste of Mercy from Us, he rejoices thereat, but when some ill befalls them because of the deeds which their hands have sent forth, then verily, man (becomes) ingrate!(48)
